Beckenham Angels Football Club was formed in 2000 as the first club in Perth’s Southern Suburbs to specifically focus only on women’s and girls’ football. In 2014 the Club had grown to five teams, State Premier League, State Premier League Reserves, Metropolitan Division 1, Girls Under 15 Division 2 and Girls Under 13 Division 2. 2016 brought a $47 million redevelopment of the Mills Park facility and the state’s first artificial football surface opened by State Premier Colin Barnett. The club built a successful elite girls and womens soccer programme under the tutelidge of Head Coaches Jason Washington-King and Greg Farrell. With tough competition from local club Queens Park forcing competition for the best players in the eastern corridor, unfortunately Beckenham Angels disbanded at the close of 2018.

The Angels club had an impressive history, being crowned Night Series Champions, League Champions and Womens Cup Champions during its 18 year journey. The club’s premier team included international and professional women’s players such as Matilda Ella Mastrantonio, Perth Glory players- midfielder Shannon May, Katarina Jukic and Melbourne City W League Premiership player Marianna Tabain. The Angels goalkeeper coach was Tracey Wheeler, a former Australian International, with 49 caps, before retiring from national duty  in 2000.
