Redbacks formed in 2003 as the first womens only soccer club in Western Australia. It wasn’t until 2011 that the club assumed their spiritual home, Celebration Park in Balga.

Redbacks relocated and merged several times before finding their niche in the football space as an elite female soccer club.

On April 2nd 2022, Northern Redbacks Women’s Soccer Club formally merged with ECU Joondalup and became Perth RedStar FC.
