Snapshot from Women’s Soccer, No Longer A Gentleman’s Game, printed in 1991. Written by Penny Tanner:

‘Lisa has been playing continuously since the age of 10, in 1977, when she played for Girrawheen. She has represented WA 10 times, vice-captaining the side in 1987, under Sharon Mateljan, and captaining the side in 1988, 1989 and 1990. Lisa prefers the position of centre back, where she plays with skill and determination. Lisa spent most of her playing career with Kingsway Olympic Ladies Team. With Kingsway Olympic she played some of her years alongside her Mother, Beryl (aged 43). Lisa played for Kingsway in 1982 and 1983, when the team won the Anna Senjuschenko Shield 2 years running.

In 1990 she played for Curtin A ladies team in the midfield and occasionally at the back. An asset to any team she plays with, Lisa is a good leader and motivator for the younger players involved in soccer. Lisa has won many awards during her soccer career, including being nominated for the Coca Cola Junior Sports Star of the year award, Fairest and Best for the Association (1989), Top Four Fairest and Best player 1987 and Fairest and Best for the 1990 Night Series. Unfortunately, business and personal commitments prevent Lisa from returning to the game.’

More to come!
