‘Luch’ as she was affectionately known by all, was a solid defender and team player, who played over a span of 3 decades. She was respected and admired for her collaborative approach, team spirit and sportsmanship. Colangelo was known to take a photo of everything soccer and always have anything needed in a bag with an endless bottom just in case someone forgot something.
Merits and representations
- Played entire career with the same team.
- 1987 first year in soccer – Morley Windmills, which became Stirling Vasto (1993), Stirling Reds (after merging with Sorrento) and Northern Redbacks (2003) and retired in 2005 (Northern Redbacks was the only remaining Women’s only Club in Western Australia until it merged with Joondalup in 2022).
- 11 league titles.
- Played for open age Western Australian State Team in the period 1989-2003 (8 as Captain, including 1993 in Perth, over 50 appearances for WA).
- Selected in the Australian All Stars 1998 (at the open age National Championships).
- Australasian Tournament 1999, Kuala Lumpur.
- At age 36, Vice Captained the Western Waves that year, Western Australia’s pre runner to Perth Glory in the National League.
- Retired in 2005 after the Football West Night Series with Northern Redbacks.
- Inducted into the Football Hall of Fame Western Australia 2006.
