WORLD MASTERS GAMES ITALY 2013
Support the women’s team the West Australian Manrays June 15 to raise the awareness of Masters Football and fundraise for their trip to The World Masters Games (WMG) Italy 2013.
The WMG are only held once every four years and are the fourth largest sporting event in the world to the Olympics, Commonwealth Games and Maccabiah Games.
The WA Masters team is possibly the most successful sporting team that has competed in any Australian event in the last 20 years, having won more bronze, silver and gold medals than any other sporting team across Australia that we can find. The team won gold at the Pan Pacific Masters on the Gold Coast in 2012.
The bulk of the Pan Pacific squad forms the basis of the Italy squad:
Penny Tanner Hoath (Melville City Premier), Di Reeves (Leeming Division 1), Tina Glasson and Sylvia Jenkins (Mandurah Metro), Wendy Peace, Mhairi Glover, Mandy Laing, Sandra Szopski (Subiaco Division 1 and Metro), Elaine Anderson, Shea Parker, Deb Farrell, Lorraine Connop, Jayne Spalding, Kerry Henry, Janet Robins, (all regional south west: Hay Park, Bunbury Forum Force and Dynamos).
The team travelling to Italy will be in the studio on 107.9fm from 9am to midday Saturday June 15, taking calls and sharing Masters football moments. The show will be hosted by Penny Tanner and Jason Washington-King, along with Melville City FC President Dave Kindness.
The budget for the squad is $120,000.00 to compete in the World Masters Games and the team has raised $20k so far.
