Australia has continued its impressive form at the EAFF Women’s East Asian Cup 2013 Preliminary Competition, outclassing Hong Kong 4-0 in Shenzhen, southern China.
Tameka Butt opened the scoring after 33 minutes, with the Matildas hanging on to their 1-0 lead at the half-time break.
In an impressive second half for Australia, Kyah Simon (64′), Katie Gill (79′) and Steph Cately (90 +1′) found the net as the Matildas stormed home.
With only one team qualifying for next year’s tournament, Australia must beat China on Saturday to make it through.
Both teams have accounted for Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong but China’s for-and-against is presently one better than the Matildas’.
