Jacinta Coleman and Renee Leota both netted two second-half goals to put the game out of Balcatta’s reach.

Redbacks coach Tim Hodgson said he was delighted with the way his side controlled the game.

“With that sort of result you can’t be disappointed,” he said.

“It was just a matter of playing the ball around and playing more simple balls. In the first half we were tending to force it and the game was very scrappy with no one determining the tempo of the game.

“We were able to control the game in the second half and dictate the tempo so we could play how we wanted to play.

“The corners were well placed and we had people attacking the ball; that’s how you score from corners.”

Riley opened the scoring after she was able to pick up the loose ends of a corner in the first minute.

Balcatta soon equalised seven minutes later through Madisyn Olguin after receiving the ball from a corner, taking a touch and then firing into the back of the net.

A valiant effort by Balcatta’s Nadia Harvey prevented an almost certain goal after she stood tall to clear the ball off the line.

Redbacks almost made it two on 26 minutes but goalkeeper Gabby Dal Busco denied the home side with a huge double save.

Just 12 minutes later Riley netted her second of the day firing from the edge of the box.

Riley completed her hat-trick before the break. Dal Busco failed to clear the danger from a corner, leaving Riley to score into an open net.

Redbacks started the second half much like the first. Coleman found space in the box before slotting home her first.

Coleman was on target just eight minutes later after heading past Dal Busco to make it 5-1.

Balcatta’s best chance of the half came in the 74th minute when Caitlin Doeglas forced Redbacks goalkeeper Kathleen Waycott to make a save at full stretch.

Shortly after, Leota was able to make it six after chipping Dal Busco from close range.

Riley got her fourth of the day after a corner fell at her feet allowing her to blast past Dal Busco on 81 minutes.

Just one minute later Leota chipped Dal Busco again, this time from range, to round out an 8-1 drubbing.
