Perth Glory star Marianna Tabain has called on fans to give the Westfield W-League side a boost when they take on Western Sydney Wanderers in their final match of the season at Percy Doyle Reserve on Saturday.

It has been a tough season for injury-ravaged Glory but Tabain said fans can help the team end the campaign on positive ground against the Wanderers.

The 21-year-old urged supporters to wear purple to the season finale, for which there is no charge, and emphasised that home support could be the difference in Glory’s pursuit of victory.

“I think having plenty of fans there will be very important,” she said. “It will be crucial for us to get as many people as we can there and basically being the twelfth man for us.

“We are coming off a great win and really want to end the season on a high.”

Last weekend, Glory defeated frontrunners Melbourne Victory 1-0 in a performance Tabain described as the team’s best of the season.

“I thought we defended really well, we worked as a team and it worked against Melbourne who really couldn’t break us down,” she said.

“We’ll be looking to do the same this week and hopefully get three points again and more goals.”

Despite missing out on the finals in season 2013/14, Tabain said the team was looking forward to returning to the summit next year.

“It’s been pretty difficult in terms of injuries and illnesses and not having all players available, but I think we have done the best we could,” she said.

“Hopefully next season will be more positive, but our attention is on Saturday night.”

Elisa D’Ovidio will be suspended for the match after accumulating her fourth yellow card of the season in last weekend’s win.

Kick-off is 5pm.
