UPDATE ON WA WOMENS FOOTBALL

Here is an update on women’s football for you:

The Matildas are through to the quarterfinals Sunday morning on SBS One WA time 4am.
You will find lots of FIFA WWC info on womensocc.com.au, thewomensgame.com and matildas.org.au and their Facebook pages for running commentary and daily news updates.

The Womens Standing Committee nominations are due today (if there are vacancies after this date then Football West can assess eligible nominations as a casual vacancy to fill the position so don’t give up hope!) The email address is elections2015@footballwest.com.au. Hope you have supported someone from your club to jump in to Football West for the promotion of our game here. There are ten positions available on the Committee.

A huge thanks to the outgoing Committee:
Dave Scragg, Emma Smith, Helen Lumley Nestoridis, Alexis Pelham, Conrad McKelvie, Tras Young, Penny TannerHoath plus Football west representatives Jessine Bonzas, Elisa D’Ovidio and Keith Wood.

This weekend is the 3rd Metro cup round with teams from as far as Kalgoorlie competing. Find all the fixtures on footballwest.com.au/comp page.

We are pretty much half way through the season with these teams table topping
Premier League : Northern Redbacks
State League Division One: Wanneroo
Metropolitan Division One: Stirling Panthers
Metropolitan Division Two: Melville City
Metropolitan Division Three: Wembley Downs
Metropolitan Division Four: Peel United
Metropolitan Division Five: Rockingham City
Metropolitan Division Six: Gwelup Croatia

This is a terrific spread of teams from all over the Perth area.

A ‘C’ licence coaching course is coming up and you can find information on footballwest.com.au home page or speak to Cris Ola at Football West. Applications close July 10.

Did you know our members are eligible for free referee accreditation and once registered can select which competitions they would like to referee? Contact Eddie Lennie at Football West for more information.

Local Radio Fremantle runs a football programme Saturdays from 10am and you are welcome to ring 0894942100 with your club news or text 0408921832 with news and comments through the two hour programme.

As a side note, there has been a few injuries I am seeing amongst younger teen age players in the higher divisions requiring surgery. I wondered if you have any feedback about that from your club?

GO THE MATILDAS!
